Russell, Manley, Tufts and Weers all score in win
For the second-night in a row, the No. 4 Syracuse field hockey team owned a dominant advantage on the stats sheet, using a 15-4 advantage in shots to cruise to a 4-0 win over UC Davis.
Â
Roos Weers chipped in her second goal of the season and added an assist, while freshman Emma Tufts collected her first-collegiate goal and Preseason All-ACC selections Emma Russell and Alyssa Manley each netted goals in the Syracuse win.
Â
"I thought we played with poised and controled tonight," said head coach Ange Bradley. "It was a good step for our group."
It was the second-consecutive night the Orange controlled much of the possession, out-shooting the Aggies after owning a 22-6 advantage in Friday's 2-1 win over No. 6 Stanford.
Â
It took less than three minutes for 'Cuse to get on the scoreboard, as Weers scored on a feed from Alyssa Manley 2:43 into the contest.
Â
Tufts scored in the 31st minute, with Weers recording the helper to give the Orange a 2-0 lead heading into the locker room.
Halftime didn't slow down the 'Cuse offense though, with Alyssa Manley burying a penalty stroke to kick off the second half.
Â
Eight minutes later, Russell netted her first goal of 2015 on a pass from Laura Hurff to seal the Syracuse win.
Senior Jess Jecko turned away the only shot she faced to preserve the shutout.
Syracuse will conclude its three-game road swing at Pacific on Monday at 3 p.m. eastern.
