Quinn, Leslie Lead Orange To 2-2 Tie Versus No. 10 Colgate

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Backed by a two-point night from sophomore Megan Quinn and the game-tying goal from senior Danielle Leslie, the Syracuse women's ice hockey team tied No. 10 Colgate on Monday night by the final score of 2-2 at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
Syracuse (8-10-3) came from behind twice in the contest to tie the game up, starting in the second frame as Quinn notched the game up at one midway through the period. With one minute left in the second, Colgate (10-3-6) retook the lead at 2-1, but a late goal from Leslie in the third evened the game at two. The Red Raiders had a 3-1 edge in shots in overtime, but neither side was able to beat the opposing goaltender.
Colgate outshot the Orange 22-20 in the contest, as senior netminder Jenn Gilligan registered 20 saves in between the pipes. For the Red Raiders, Julia Vandyk secured 18 saves, including 11 in the third frame.
The Red Raiders scored the game's first goal nearly 13 minutes into the first period coming on a score from Bre Wilson-Bennett. After nearly 20 minutes of scoreless play, Quinn notched the game up at one with a blast near the blue line to beat Vandyk. After Olivia Zafuto gave Colgate back its lead late in the second period, Leslie scored her first goal of the season to send both sides home with a tie.
The Orange will play its final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 12 when the team travels to take on Union at 7 p.m. Both live video and live stats can be accessed via Cuse.com.
