After leading the Syracuse field hockey team to its first National Championship in program history and first national title for any women's program at Syracuse, head coach Ange Bradley earned NFHCA National Coach of the Year, the organization announced at its coaches convention on Friday.
It's the second time Bradley has earned the honor in her career, after she was awarded it in 2008 when she led 'Cuse to a 22-2 record and the program's first national semifinal appearance in just her second year at the helm.
A seven-time conference coach of the year honoree, Bradley owns the sixth-best winning percentage in Division I history (.751) and ranks fourth among active coaches.
Bradley has been at Syracuse since 2007, building it to national prominence. She's led Syracuse to four final fours and back-to-back NCAA title game appearances, with the Orange defeating North Carolina 4-2 in the 2015 edition to claim the national title.
This season, the Orange ran the table in the regular season to a perfect 16-0 record, becoming just the 10th team in the history of Syracuse athletics and first program since men's lacrosse in 1990 to finish the regular season with a perfect record.
The regular season success earned Syracuse the ACC regular season title, its first since joining the league in 2013. Syracuse has also made back-to-back conference championship game appearances in the nation's best conference.
The Orange also ranked in the top-five of a number of national statistical categories, including second in scoring margin (2.75), fourth in goals against average (0.98), fifth in goals per game (3.82) and fifth in scoring average (3.73).
Bradley was previously named ACC Coach of the Year this season as part of Syracuse sweeping all-four ACC postseason honors (Alma Fenne – Offensive Player of the Year; Alyssa Manley – Defensive Player of the Year; Roos Weers – Rookie of the Year), marking the first time since 1994 that one team swept the awards.
It's the second time this fall alone a Syracuse coach has earned national coach of the year in their respective sport. Chris Fox was named USTFCCCA Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year in November after leading his squad to its first national title since 1951.
