Five Former Orange Named to U.S. World Cup Training Team

SPARKS, Md. – Five former Syracuse women's lacrosse players are one step closer to representing the U.S. at the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse Women's World Cup next summer. The group was among the 25 players named to the training team after last weekend's Team USA Fall Classic at US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.

Attackers Alyssa Murray '14, Michelle Tumolo '13 and Kayla Treanor '16, defender Becca Block '13 and goalkeeper Liz Hogan '11 helped the U.S. go undefeated at the USA Fall Classic, outscoring its opponents, 79-29. Syracuse's five selections to the training squad tied for the second-highest total for any school in the nation.

The 2017 World Cup Training team will compete for the U.S. in Florida next January at the Team USA Spring Premiere. Following the event, the final 18 players and two alternates will be selected to represent the U.S. as it goes for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title in Guildford, England July 13-22.
