Glaude, Kerpestein, and Tavares all raced at the 2016 World Rowing Championships
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Three members of the 2016-17 Syracuse men's rowing program gained key experience this summer at the 2016 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Mike Glaude, Pieter Kerpestein, and Nick Tavares all participated in the annual event.
Glaude represented the United States in the U23 double scull, Kerpestein was a member of the Dutch junior coxed eight crew, and Tavares was a part of the Canadian U23 coxed four boat.
In his second season on campus, Glaude held a spot in the Orange third varsity eight crew that finished 15th at the 2016 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta. Kerpestein joined the program after a successful scholastic career with the Dutch junior national program. As a freshman in 2016, Tavares helped the Syracuse first varsity eight crew to its best finish at the national championship regatta since 2012.
Prior to the start of the fall season, Cuse TV caught up with the World Rowing Championships trio at the James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse in Liverpool. The trio spoke about their experience in the Netherlands and what it meant for the program. One can watch the video by clicking the 'play' button in the above image or access it in the side links.
