Orange Open NCAA Tournament Play Sunday at Noon

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 8 seed Syracuse makes its debut in the 2016 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 20 when it hosts Dartmouth in a second-round match at the SU Soccer Stadium.The match time has been changed to 12 p.m. due to the weather forecast for Sunday.

Tickets for the match are $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 18 and under and for students with a valid ID from any NCAA institution. The first 250 Syracuse students with a valid ID will be admitted free of charge. All ticket sales are cash only. Gates will open at 11 a.m. Fans can also watch the game on CuseTV on Cuse.com.

ORANGE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
Syracuse is making the program's fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Orange have an all-time record of 6-2-2 in the national tournament. Syracuse has earned a first-round bye in each of the last three years. The Orange have won their last three second-round matches.

Syracuse made its first appearance in the tournament in 1984. The Orange recorded its first win in 2012, a 1-0 victory at Cornell. Syracuse recorded its first win in the Sweet 16 in 2015 against Seattle and defeated Boston College in its first Elite Eight contest. The Orange advanced to the national semifinals for the first time where they tied Clemson, 0-0. The Tigers won the penalty kick shootout, 4-1, to advance to the title game.

SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth defeated St. Francis (Brooklyn), 1-0 in double overtime, on Thursday in the opening round of the tournament. The win improved the Ivy League champs' record to 9-4-5.
Three members of the Big Green have 10 or more points this season, including leading scorer Matt Danilack. He has scored four goals and recorded a team-best five assists for 13 points. Noah Paravicini (4g, 2a) and Justin Donawa (3g, 4a) have 10 points each. James Hickok is Dartmouth's starting goalkeeper. He has a 0.60 goals-against average and an .843 save percentage. Hickok has recorded seven shutouts this season.

THE SERIES
Sunday's match marks the eighth all-time meeting between Syracuse and Dartmouth. The Orange hold a 4-3 advantage in the series. The squads met last season in the NCAA Tournament Second Round at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Big Green took the lead in the 30th minute, but a Ben Polk goal less than four minutes later tied the score at 1-1. Louis Cross scored the go-ahead goal in the 55th minute on an assist from Julian Buescher. The Syracuse defense withstood a late offensive push by the Big Green to record the 2-1 victory as it advanced to the NCAA Tournament Third Round for the second straight season and the third time in three years.

The winner of Sunday's match will advance to the NCAA Tournament Third Round where it will face the winner of the match between North Carolina and Florida Gulf Coast.
