Syracuse Returns to CHA Play vs. RIT

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's ice hockey team (4-7-3, 3-2-1 CHA) returns to College Hockey America play on Friday when they host Rochester Institute of Technology (3-15-0, 1-5-0 CHA) at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free. The two teams will play again on Saturday in Rochester. Start time for that game is 2 p.m.

In its last outing, the Orange split with North Dakota on the road in Grand Forks. The Fighting Hawks were ranked No. 7, but dropped to No. 9 in this week's USCHO.com poll. In the first game, Syracuse earned a 3-0 shutout win. Lindsay Eastwood scored the game-winner in the contest and Heather Schwarz added two goals of her own.

Schwarz leads the team with seven goals on the season. The Orange are led by Alysha Burris and Jessica Sibley in scoring with 10 points each. Sibley is also the team assist-leader with nine this season.

RIT is coming off a split weekend at Rensselaer. The Tigers dropped the first game, 5-1, but bounced back for a 3-1 win on Saturday. RIT is led by Kendall Cornine, who has put together a string of eight points in the Tigers' past eight games. Terra Lanteigne has played the most games in net for RIT with a 2.84 goals against average and .911 save percentage.

Syracuse leads the series with RIT, 10-7-1. The Orange won three of the four meetings between the two teams last season. In the Oct. 21, 2015 matchup, Stephanie Grossi scored her first of two hat tricks during the 2015-16 season.

Friday's game will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Sports Network with Brian Higgins and Dan Fridgen on the call.
