SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 25/21 Syracuse University women's basketball team opens conference competition on Thursday night with a top-25 clash at No. 8/8 Louisville. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.
Thursday's game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra with Don Russell (play-by-play) and Sara White (analyst) on the call. Brian Higgins '04 will be live on the Syracuse IMG Sports Network. As always, follow @CuseWBB on Twitter for live in-game updates.
In their last outing, the Orange suffered a 105-84 loss against Texas A&M at the Florida Sunshine Classic on Dec. 21. Senior guard Alexis Peterson matched her career high with a 34-point showing against the Aggies en route to All-Florida Sunshine Classic Team honors.
Louisville comes into the weekday matchup with a 12-2 overall record. The Cardinals are ranked eighth nationally in both major national polls. In its last game, Louisville recorded 78-66 victory on the road at Vanderbilt on Dec. 22.
SERIES BREAKDOWN
Syracuse and Louisville will meet for the 15th time on the hardwood on Thursday night. The Cardinals hold a slight edge, 8-6, in the all-time series against the Orange.
No. 17/17 Syracuse shocked No. 7/6 Louisville in the last meeting between the two teams, recording an 80-75 victory in the Atlantic Coast Conference semifinals on March 5, 2016. With the win, the Orange earned their first trip to a conference title game since 1988. Guard Alexis Peterson led the way with 19 points against the Cardinals.

Syracuse will return to the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome for the first time since Dec. 10 when it hosts Virginia on Monday night. The conference content is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
