
Orange Open Season at Greg Page Relays

The Syracuse track and field teams kicked off their indoor season at the Greg Page Relays on Sunday, with 'Cuse coming away with a trio of event victories on the afternoon.
Simon Smith and Rachel Bonner took home the title in the men's and women's 3000-meter runs, with Ebhani Blackwood winning the triple jump to highlight the meet.
In the triple jump, Blackwood leaped to a distance of 12.72 meters, earning the win by a wide margin for the freshman over teammate Regine Hunter, who took second in 11.56 meters. No other competitor in the field jumped longer than 11.48 meters.
Smith won his race by nearly a full 10 seconds, crossing the line in 8:51.95 to secure the win as the only member of the Orange in the race. Bonner won her race by an even larger of a time, finishing in 10:23.58 ahead of Ithaca's Sierra Grazia who crossed the line in 10:42.48.
The Orange had a solid day in jumps on the men's side as well, with Pascal Bastein (6.78 meters) and Randall Johnson (6.76 meters) finishing in third and fourth respectively in the long jump.
A number of newcomers also got their first meet experience in the 60-meter dash for SU, with freshman Cheyenne Trigg (7.79) and Justice Richardson (7.82) taking fourth and fifth respectively in the event, joining juniors Victoria Parker (7th/7.95) and Danielle Delgado (10th/8.01) in the field.

Delgado then led the way in the 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 8.76 seconds which was good for second, being edged by 0.01 by Cornell's Brittany Stenekes. Aviana Goode finished fourth for the Orange in 8.96 seconds during her collegiate debut. Goode also long jumped to 5.43 meters, which was good for sixth.

Kashif Miller finished ninth in the 60-meter dash (7.10 seconds) and Paul Lovell took eighth in the 500-meter dash (1:06.59).
Next, Syracuse will compete at the Ramapo Opener after the new year on January 13.
