SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse has moved up in the polls after a productive double header on Sunday. The Orange moved up to No. 2 in both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches (IWLCA) and Inside Lacrosse media polls released on Monday, Feb. 22. Syracuse climbed one spot in both rankings.
The Orange (4-0) took over the No. 2 spot, which had been held by ACC rival North Carolina. The Tar Heels are now fourth in the IWLCA poll and fifth in the Inside Lacrosse poll. The Orange sit behind defending national champion No. 1 Maryland, which retained its ranking from the previous week. Florida, which defeated North Carolina, moved up to No. 3 in the coaches poll and is No. 4 in the media poll.
Syracuse's offense was clicking in its two victories at the Carrier Dome last weekend. The Orange topped Wagner and Marist, 16-5 in both contests in the doubleheader. Senior attackers Kayla Treanor and Halle Majorana led the club, combining for 20 points on the day. The Orange are off to a 4-0 start after defeating Loyola and Binghamton the previous weekend at the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse is back in action against No. 5/7 Northwestern in the Carrier Dome on Sunday at noon.
