TREANOR HITS MILESTONE
Senior Kayla Treanor (Niskayuna, N.Y.) moved into second place on Syracuse's all-time goals scored list in the team's loss to Boston College over the weekend. She finished the day with two goals, which put her at 233 for her career and one ahead of former Orange All-American Katie Rowan. Treanor currently leads all active NCAA Division 1 players in points, goals, and points-per-game, and needs 17 goals to tie program leader Christina Dove.
THE ACC CONTINUES TO SHINE
The ACC currently boasts all but one of its teams in this week's IWLCA Top 25 rankings, with five teams rounding out the Top 10. Eighteen players from the conference have been named to the 2016 Tewaarton Award watch list, an honor awarded every year to the best women's lacrosse player in the country.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH
Notre Dame enters Saturday's game on a four-game winning streak and an overall record of 9-1 after recently defeating No. 13/16 Virginia, 16-4. The Fighting Irish currently lead the nation in scoring offense and points per game, propelled by junior Courtney Fortunato, who ranks first in Division I in both points (55) and goals (35). On the defensive end, the Irish average 15.7 caused turnovers per game, good enough for first in the country. Samantha Giacolone has started all 10 games in goal for the team. She has a .496 save percentage and 5.95 goals-against-average on the season.
THE SERIES
Saturday's game will be the 22nd all-time meeting between the Orange and Notre Dame. Syracuse currently leads the series, 15-6. The last meeting between the two teams ended in a 12-11 overtime victory for Notre Dame in the Carrier Dome on April 7, 2015.
