Syracuse opens the year against No. 13 Wisconsin
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University men's rowing team opens the 2016 season ranked No. 17 in the country in the Preseason USRowing Collegiate Men's Varsity Eight Poll, as announced on March 24.
Syracuse is one of 13 teams in the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) ranked in the preseason rankings. The Orange open their season against conference-foe No. 13 Wisconsin on Saturday, April 9 in Chicago. It marks the second straight season that the club has opened up against the Badgers.
The Orange finished in 19th place in the men's varsity eight at the 2016 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta. Seniors Jonathan Dawson, Aleks Staprans, and Bryce Vanderberg all competed for the squad in the championship event and return for their final campaigns.
