NCAA Championships Preview: 60-meter dash

Syracuse has six student-athletes set to compete at this week's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, which begins on Friday in Birmingham, Alabama. For the first time since Lauren Penney in 2013, a member of the women's squad will represent the Orange at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
After Adam Palamar and Joel Hubbard kick things off in the men's mile and Freddie Crittenden III takes on the 60-meter hurdles, Shaina Harrison will race in the semifinals of the 60-meter dash on Friday, the opening day of the event.
Seeded 13th, Harrison gained her spot when she took second at the ACC Indoor Championship with a time of 7.29, her personal best in the event.
So far this season, Harrison has a top-two spot in every event she's competed in, with wins coming at the Armory Track Invitational and Cornell Upstate Challenge. She also finished second at the Penn State National and Ramapo College Season Opener
In the top spot for the event is Shayla Sanders of Florida. She holds first place with a time of 7.17, just .01 seconds above LSU's Mikiah Brisco. Jasmin Todd from Oregon is ranked third with a seed time of 7.20.
Clemson's Myasia Jacobs is the only other ACC competitor in the race.
Harrison is set to compete in the second of two heats, beginning at 6:38 p.m. on Friday.
