
Men's Rowing Rises to #11 Nationally

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Syracuse University men's rowing team has continued its climb up the coaches' poll during the 2016 season. In the latest release of the USRowing Coaches Poll, the Syracuse first varsity eight crew ranks No. 11 in the nation.
This marks the highest the Orange has been ranked in the national rankings since May 16, 2012 when the team checked in at No. 8 in the country. That season, Syracuse finished in fifth place in the first varsity eight competition at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta.
In addition to reaching their highest rank in nearly four years, the Orange extended their streak of top-20 appearances in the coaches' poll to 84 consecutive rankings releases.
The first Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) Poll came out on Thursday, as well. Syracuse ranks ninth in its conference in the first varsity eight, 11th among second varsity eight crews, and 10th among the third varsity eight boats.
Syracuse concludes its regular season this weekend with two races. First, the Orange will take on No. 7 Boston University and No. 18 Columbia in Leonia, N.J. on Saturday morning. The club will take on No. 10 Dartmouth on Sunday morning in its final competition of the regular season in Hanover, N.H.
