Treanor Named Tewaaraton Award Finalist

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Syracuse senior Kayla Treanor is one of five finalists for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award. The list of women's and men's finalists was announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Sunday, May 15. It marks the third consecutive year Treanor has been a finalist for the award, which is presented annually to the top collegiate lacrosse player in the nation.

Treanor leads the Orange and ranks 10th in the nation in scoring with 84 points on 46 goals and 38 assists. In addition, she has 197 draw controls, which is the second-highest single-season total in NCAA Division I history. Treanor earned her third consecutive ACC Offensive Player of the Year award this season, becoming the first player in league history to accomplish the feat. She was an All-ACC First Team selection as well as a member of the league's All-Tournament Team. In addition, Treanor was named to the All-Northeast Region for the fourth straight year.

Earlier this season, Treanor became Syracuse's all-time leader in goals with 256. She also ranks second on the Orange's all-time scoring list with 387 points. Treanor now ranks fourth on the NCAA Division I all-time scoring list and is tied for eighth on the goals scored leader list.

The other four finalists are Maryland's Taylor Cummings and Alice Mercer, Florida's Nicole Graziano and Notre Dame's Barb Sullivan.
