Women's Hoops Set for Gulf Coast Showcase

Tournament features five 2016 NCAA Tournament participants
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 2016-17 Syracuse University women's basketball team will participate in the Gulf Coast Showcase from Friday, Nov. 25 – Sunday, Nov. 27 at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla. The three-day tournament features five teams that played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
Syracuse will open tournament play against George Washington on Friday, Nov. 25 at 5 or 7:30 p.m. George Washington finished the 2015-16 season with a 26-7 overall record and won the 2016 Atlantic-10 Championship.
The Orange will take on either Florida Gulf Coast or Ohio State in their second contest of the Gulf Coast Showcase on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 1:30 or 7:30 p.m. Florida Gulf Coast owned a 33-6 overall record last year and participated in the WNIT championship game. Ohio State notched a 26-8 overall record during the 2015-16 campaign and advanced to the 2016 NCAA Tournament regional semifinals.
In its final contest, Syracuse will play either Baylor, DePaul, Kent State, or Western Kentucky on Sunday, Nov. 27. Baylor and DePaul both played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
