
Syracuse Set for Finals at IRA Regatta

Orange will compete in the third-level finals on Sunday
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The No. 12 Syracuse University men's rowing first varsity eight crew competed in the semifinals of the 2016 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta on Saturday morning on Mercer Lake. Syracuse will race in the third-level final in the first, second, and third varsity eight on Sunday morning.
In the first C/D semifinal of the day, the Orange first varsity eight boat edged out Drexel for the final spot in the third-level final. Syracuse covered the 2,000-meter course in 5:45.810, defeating Drexel by 0.09 seconds. The first varsity eight crew will wrap up its stay at the annual national championship regatta in the third-level final at 8:20 a.m. on Sunday.
The second varsity eight boat will compete in the third-level final at 8:28 a.m., while the third varsity eight crew will race in its respective third-level final eight minutes earlier.
Tickets for the IRA Championship Regatta are $10 per day, per person, and fans under 18 years old are free. Parking is $10 per day, as well. If purchasing at the event, cash is the only the form of payment accepted.
For those not attending, live video and results will be available all three days from the national championship regatta.
