
Trio of Orange Ranked By ITA

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After its first trip to the NCAA Tournament last season, the Syracuse women's tennis has three players nationally ranked as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Sophomore Gabriela Knutson and senior Valeria Salazar were ranked No. 12 overall in doubles. In singles, graduate student Anna Shkudun came in at No. 44 and Knutson ranks at No. 59 in the nation.
The ITA also announced qualifiers for the Women's All-American Championships held in Riveria, Calif. Shkudun will play in the singles main draw along with 21 others. Knutson and Salazar will participate in the doubles main draw. Knutson was also placed in the qualifying singles category and Salazar is a pre-qualifying singles player.
The pre-qualifying matches will be held on Oct. 1 and the main draw takes place Oct. 6-9.
Knutson, Shkudun and Salazar were the first Syracuse players since 1996 to compete at the NCAA Individual Championship last spring. The trio also led the team to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Syracuse will continue fall play on Sept. 16 in the Columbia Invitational.
