SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Riding a four-game winning streak, the Syracuse women's hockey team will host College Hockey America's first-place team, No. 7 Robert Morris, for a pair of games at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Friday's game is set to start at 7 p.m. and Saturday's puck drop will be at 3 p.m.
The Orange (9-10-5, 8-2-2 CHA) have taken a step forward offensively in conference play since the New Year, outscoring CHA opponents 15-2. In the last four games, nine different Orange members have scored.
After last weekend's consecutive shutouts against Lindenwood, three Syracuse players were honored with CHA weekly honors. Abbey Miller claimed her second Goalie of the Week honor of the season. Allie Munroe was named Player of the Week after scoring five points against the Lions. Savannah Rennie was tabbed Co-Rookie of the Week following her first career game-winner in the first game against Lindenwood.
Stephanie Grossi leads Syracuse with 20 points this season. Heather Schwarz has been the most frequent goal scorer for the Orange, with 10 during the 2016-17 campaign. Grossi, Munroe and Jessica Sibley have a three-way tie for the most assists with 11 each.
Robert Morris (16-2-6, 9-1-2 CHA) is led by CHA's two highest scoring players in Brittany Howard and Jaycee Gebhard. The duo have scored 72 of the team's 215 points this season. The Colonials were unbeaten in conference play for most of the season until Lindenwood upset RMU on the road on Jan. 13.
The two programs have met 34 times in series history and the Orange lead 14-11-9 all-time. Earlier in the season, the two teams tied in Pittsburgh on Nov. 4. Syracuse took a 2-1 lead late in the game, but the Colonials came back to score the game-tying goal with nine seconds left. The next day, Robert Morris claimed a 2-1 win.
The Colonials have a two-point lead over Syracuse in CHA standings and sit in first place.
