Gillon tallies first Orange double-double
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Four double-digit scoring performances secured the second-straight ACC victory for the Orange, as Syracuse (10-6, 2-1 ACC) defeated Pittsburgh (12-4, 1-2 ACC), 77-66, on Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome.

Fellow graduate transfer John Gillon joined White III with 20 points of his own. He marked his second-straight double-digit assist game with a career-high tying 11 on the night to complete his first double-double in the Orange uniform. Gillon converted 6-12 three-point baskets to tie his highest triple basket count of the season.

The Panthers tried to close the gap and tallied a quick 7-0 run, but a Thompson jump shot ended it with the Orange on top, 42-19.
Pitt added a basket to its score before the end of the half, as Syracuse held the Panthers to just 21 points, 42-21, tying the lowest mark of any opponent this season. The Orange enjoyed a lead as large as 28 points in the first half.
The Panthers returned to the hardwood looking to close the gap with an 8-2 run, but the pair of Gillon and White III sank back-to-back three-point baskets to extend the lead back to 21 points, 50-29.
With under six minutes on the clock, Pitt tallied a late 8-0 run to come within 14 of the Orange. The run was stopped by a dunk through traffic from Lydon, with the assist credited to Gillon. The Orange tallied 17 assists on the game.
