Orange Wrap Up Non-Conference Play at Cornell

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's hockey team will play its final non-conference game of the season at Cornell on Tuesday in Ithaca, N.Y. Puck drop at Lynah Rink is scheduled for 7 p.m.

In their last outing, the Orange were edged by No. 6 Boston College, 4-3, in Chestnut Hill. After taking an early 2-0 lead, Syracuse fell behind when the nation's third ranked offense scored four goals in the second period. Stephanie Grossi scored in the third to bring the Orange within one but 'Cuse was unable to score again.

Alysha Burriss leads Syracuse in scoring with 14 points this season and Heather Schwarz is the leading goal scorer for the Orange with nine goals. Burriss and Schwarz have each recorded a point in four consecutive games leading up to Tuesday.

Cornell is coming off a split weekend with Providence last week. After dropping the first game, the Big Red bounced back for a 5-1 victory the next day. Cornell boasts a pair of top-15 goaltenders. Paula Voorheis ranks third in the nation with a 1.39 goals against average in her eight games played this season. Marlene Boissonnault sits at 12th with a 1.70 GAA in her seven games in net.

Tuesday's game will be the ninth meeting between the two teams. Cornell leads the series, 7-1-0. The Orange met Cornell last season in Syracuse on Nov. 15, 2015. Cornell came away with a 5-2 win.
