Strautmane Earns ACC Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following a career-outing against Drexel, freshman forward Digna Strautmane has been tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. This is the first conference honor for Strautmane and the second league accolade for the Orange this season.
The freshman averaged 15.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in two games this past week and posted a career-high 19 points against Drexel. Strautmane tallied 11 rebounds in the game for her second double-double of the season. She shot 8-for-10 from the field and knocked down a pair of free throws in her career-outing.
The Latvia native notched four blocked shots in each contest and currently ranks 10th in the nation, second in the ACC, in blocked shots with 27 on the season. She paces Syracuse in rebounds per game (8.5), offensive rebounds (34) and blocks per game (2.7).
Strautmane and the Orange return to the court on Sunday, Dec. 17 when they take on Coastal Carolina in the Carolinas Challenge. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and the game can be heard on ESPN 97.7 or online at Cuse.TV.
