Briana Day tallies a career-high 31 points

SYRACUSE, NY – The No. 24/21 Syracuse women's basketball team won its third straight game, topping Pittsburgh, 93-65, on Thursday night. The win extended the Orange's home winning streak to 17 games, a new program record.

HOW IT WAS DECIDED
At the half, the Orange (16-7) led the Panthers (12-10), 42-36, with senior center Briana Day and redshirt senior guard Brittney Sykes recording 31 of the team's total points. 'Cuse pulled away from Pitt in the third, outscoring the Panthers, 32-13, ending the quarter with a 25-point lead. The Orange put up an additional 18 points in the fourth.

"It was good to get a team win at home. I think that is the most important thing for us, to take the home court. I thought our kids came out and played a really good total game."

OF NOTE
Day had a career-high 31 points, beating out her previous record of 26 reached on Dec. 29, 2015 against Drexel. Day also recorded a double-double with 14 rebounds, tying her season-high.

Sykes finished the night with 25 points, moving her into fifth place on the Orange's all-time scoring list with 1,655 points.

Freshman guard Gabby Cooper and senior guard Alexis Peterson also had double digits. Cooper finished with 15 points and five assists. Peterson had 10 points, seven assists and five steals.
