Widner Leads Nation in Draw Controls

Orange Rank in Top 10 in the Country in Six Categories
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Syracuse freshman Morgan Widner ranks first in the nation in draw controls per game, according to the NCAA Division I women's lacrosse statistics released on Monday, Feb. 20. The Orange rank among the top 10 in the country in six different statistical categories.

Widner is averaging 13.67 draw controls per game. She has reached double figures in draw controls in all three games this season. Her 16 draw controls against Boston College in the season opener is the second-highest total in the nation this season, while her 14 draw controls versus Canisius rank third on the single-game leader list.

Freshman goalkeeper Asa Goldstock is sixth in the nation in goals-against average (5.90) and 11th in save percentage (.606). She leads the ACC in both categories. In addition, senior Riley Donahue is 17th in the nation in total assists (7) and 23rd in total points (14), while sophomore Nicole Levy is 20th in total assists (6).

Syracuse is second in the nation in assists per game (10.00) and fourth in points per game (27.33). The Orange are also fifth in scoring margin (11.00), sixth in scoring defense (6.33) and eighth in scoring offense (17.33).

Syracuse remained No. 5 in both the IWLCA coaches and Cascade media polls this week. Both polls have North Carolina at No. 1 and Maryland at No. 2, followed by USC and Florida.

The Orange go for their fourth straight victory when they host Massachusetts on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Admission and parking are free of charge.
