#TBT - Syracuse Makes First NCAA Tournament Appearance

The 2017 season is the 20th for the Syracuse women's lacrosse program. To celebrate, we're recognizing 20 great moments the program has had over the last two decades throughout the 2017 season.

Last season, Syracuse advanced to the national semifinals for the fifth consecutive year. It marked the 14th appearance in the national tournament for the Orange. In the program's third season of existence, Syracuse earned its first at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2000 after finishing the regular season with a 12-4 record. The No. 8 seed, Georgetown, hosted the first-round game in Washington D.C.

The teams went into the locker room at halftime tied at 4-4. When the game started back up, Syracuse took the lead on a goal by Katrina Hable. Georgetown responded with three straight goals within the next two minutes to take the lead for good. The Orange lost the contest by a final score of 11-10, but would go on to reach the first round of the NCAA Tournament the following three seasons.
