Orange Clash with Niagara, Siena for Midweek Doubleheaders

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange softball team returns home to put a five-game win streak on the line on Tuesday, April 18 when it hosts Niagara (11-17, 3-5 MAAC) for an afternoon doubleheader at Skytop Softball Stadium. 'Cuse (24-15, 6-9 ACC) will turn around the next day and travel to Loudonville, New York, to face a second MAAC opponent in Siena (12-23, 7-3 MAAC) at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
Tuesday's home games will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra, while the pair of matchups at Siena can be watched online. Links for broadcasts and live stats can be found below.
The Orange and the Purple Eagles face off in a Tuesday doubleheader, as 'Cuse owns a 15-0 all-time series advantage. The pair first met in April of 2005 and have paired up for seven doubleheaders and a single game in the total history. The Orange have traveled to Niagara for just four games, while the pair have played 11 at Skytop Softball Stadium.
Niagara is 11-17 overall this season and 3-5 in MAAC conference play. Most recently, the Eagles split a doubleheader with Manhattan College, losing game one 1-2 and claiming game two, 7-5.
Syracuse owns a 10-0 all-time series advantage over Wednesday's doubleheader opponent, as Syracuse has defeated the Saints by the mercy rule in four meetings. The pair met for the first time in April of 2000 in Syracuse's inaugural season, and have met for a total of five twinbill matchups since. The eighth most recent meetings have been played in Syracuse at Skytop Softball Stadium. Wednesday marks the first time that 'Cuse will travel to Loudonville since 2000.
Siena is 12-23 on the year and 7-3 in MAAC conference play. The Saints split a doubleheader with Canisius on Saturday, falling in game one, 4-3 in eight innings, and defeating the Golden Griffins 6-0 in game two.
