Three-game series set at Skytop
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse softball team (25-16, 6-9 ACC) continues home play with a three-game series against North Carolina (35-12, 13-5 ACC) this weekend at Skytop Softball Stadium. Friday and Sunday's games will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra, while Saturday's game will have CuseTV Audio. Live stats will be available for all three games.
The Orange trail the Tar Heels 3-6 in the all-time series, as UNC has claimed two of the three most recent meetings from last season. Syracuse defeated North Carolina 8-2 in eight innings in the series opener last year, before the Tar Heels came through for back-to-back wins, 3-1 and 2-1, to win the series in Chapel Hill.
The Orange are 1-1 against UNC at Skytop Softball Stadium, as the pair have faced off just twice in 2015 in central New York. The Tar Heels head to Syracuse this weekend coming off a loss to Winthrop, 8-7, on Wednesday night. The Tar Heels had won five straight games before the midweek meeting.
Last season, North Carolina was 32-25 overall and 13-11 in the ACC. UNC defeated Boston College 6-0 in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, before falling to eventual tournament champion Florida State, 7-1, in the semifinal round. The Tar Heels earned a bid to the NCAA tournament, where they defeated Longwood, 6-4, before falling to #7 JMU and Longwood, 10-1 (6 innings) and 5-4 (9 innings) respectively, to be eliminated from the tournament.
