'Cuse to Face Louisville in ACC Tourney

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team will take on Louisville in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament on Wednesday, April 26 at Berry College in Rome, Ga. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
The Orange earned the 11 seed in the tournament, while Louisville is the 14 seed. The two teams met earlier in the season in Syracuse. 'Cuse topped the Cards, 5-2, after earning the doubles point and winning four of six singles matches.
The winner of the match will play six-seeded Wake Forest at 4 p.m. on Thursday in the second round. Quarterfinal play will take place on Friday followed by semifinal matches on Saturday. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the championship match set for 2 p.m.
The Orange are coming off of two road matches this past weekend, which resulted in a 4-3 win over No. 30 Wake Forest and a loss to No. 3 North Carolina. The win against Wake was the second victory over a ranked opponent for the Orange this season. The first came against No. 42 Miami on April 9.
Freshman Miranda Ramirez led Syracuse with a 15-5 singles record in her debut season and has a No. 96 ITA ranking. Dina Hegab and Gabriela Knutson both earned ten wins on the season. Knutson is currently ranked No. 71 by the ITA. Knutson and Ramirez led the team in doubles play with a 9-6 record at No. 1 and the duo has a No. 66 ranking.
The Cardinals are coming off of a 7-0 loss to Duke and a 5-2 loss to NC State. The team has won two conference matches this season, which came against Boston College and Pittsburgh. Louisville is led by freshman Tiffany Huber who posted a 10-0 record on the season. Junior Mariana Humberg and redshirt sophomore Aleksandra Mally have each earned nine wins on the season. The number one doubles partners of Humberg and junior Abbie Pahz have earned an 8-1 record on the season.
North Carolina earned the top seed in the tournament following a 13-1 regular season. Rounding out the top four seeds are Duke, Georgia Tech and Miami. All four teams received double-byes and will play their first matches in the quarterfinals on Friday. The bracket can be viewed here.
