Gill, Spraggins, and Taylor honored
CLEMSON, S.C. – Seniors Alexandra Gill and Harriet Taylor and sophomore Rebecca Spraggins of the Syracuse women's rowing team earned 2017 All-Atlantic Coast Conference accolades, which were announced following the 2017 ACC Championship on Sunday night.
Gill and Taylor each were recognized on the All-ACC First Team, while Spraggins was named to the all-conference second team. It marks the first time Syracuse has had multiple first team honorees since joining the league in 2014.
A Plymouth, Mass. native, Gill has held a spot in the first varsity eight boat in every race during the 2017 campaign. A senior in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, she helped the Orange's top boat to three ACC Crew of the Week honors.
Taylor, a Sunningdale, England product, has been a part of the first varsity eight boat since the 2015 season. A senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, she trained with the Great Britain senior national team earlier in 2017 and competed at the 2015 and 2016 World Rowing U23 Championships.
A native of Arlington, Va, Spraggins has served as the coxswain of the first varsity eight crew in every event this year. A sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, Spraggins helped the team's top boat claim the Kittel, O'Leary, and Orange Challenge Cups during the 2017 campaign.
Syracuse now awaits its postseason fate. The 2017 NCAA Championship field will be revealed on Tuesday night. The 22 participating teams will be revealed at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.
