Bennie and Tooker Kick Off NCAAs

Syracuse standouts Colin Bennie and Aidan Tooker kicked off the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships by earning Honorable Mention All-America honors in their respective events on Wednesday.
Tooker, who finished 21st overall in the 3000-meter steeplechase, concluded a standout freshman campaign with the accolade. He crossed the line in 9:02.33. Louisville's Edwin Kibichiy – who Tooker was the runner-up to at the ACC Championships - turned in the top time of the semifinal, with a mark of 8:41.07 to lead all racers.
It was the sixth All-America nod for Bennie, counting cross country, indoor and outdoor track. He crossed the line in the 10,000-meters in a time of 29:47.09, which was good for 20th overall. Tulsa's Marc Scott (29:01.54) claimed the NCAA Championship in the event.
Next up for 'Cuse, Tia Thevenin and Paige Stoner will begin their NCAA Championship events on Thursday as the women's semifinal races kick off. Stoner will race at 8:02 p.m. eastern in the 3000-meter steeplechase, while Thevenin will compete at 8:32 p.m. eastern in the 100-meter hurdles.
Justyn Knight – the top-seed in the 5000-meter run – is still yet to race as well, beginning his meet on Friday.
