Thevenin Posts Record Time at Canadian Championships
7/8/2017 10:50:00 PM | Track and Field
Orange junior hurdler Tia Thevenin continued her phenomenal outdoor campaign on Saturday, posting a personal best of 13.13 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles in what's a record time for a Syracuse sprinter.
The school record, which was set in 1996 by Keri Hinderlie, stood at 13.16 seconds ahead of Thevenin's new mark on Saturday in Ottawa. Thevenin then posted a time of 13.47 seconds in the final to take sixth at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.
The time is the third new PR in the last six weeks for Thevenin, who set two PRs in back-to-back races at the NCAA East Prelims to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where she earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in the event.
Previously at the meet, Justyn Knight took second in the men's 5k and earned a spot representing Canada at the World Championships in London.
