Cottingham served as an SU assistant for the last four years
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Syracuse assistant men's rowing coach Jason Cottingham was named the head coach of the Jacksonville University men's rowing program, Jacksonville Athletics announced on Monday.
"We are all very excited for Jason as he moves on to the next phase of his coaching career," Orange head men's rowing coach Dave Reischman stated. "He has been an extremely valuable member of our staff for the past four years and his contributions will certainly be missed."
"I am excited to welcome Coach Jason Cottingham to the JU family," Jacksonville athletic director Alex Ricker-Gilbert said in a release. "His knowledge and expertise of the sport will prove beneficial as we continue to advance the JU men's rowing program."
Cottingham served as an assistant coach and director of operations for the Syracuse men's rowing team for the past four seasons. In his time on staff, the Orange claimed the Conlan (2017) and Packard (2016) Cups in regular-season action and tallied a top-10 showing at the 2017 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta.
"Jacksonville is getting a great coach," added Reischman. "I hope their administration and student-athletes are ready because that program will be on the rise shortly."
Prior to Syracuse, Cottingham was an assistant coach at Dartmouth from 2010-13. During that time, he also was an assistant coach for the USRowing program at the 2011 pre-elite camp in Oklahoma City, Okla.
