‘Cuse Rolls Past Clemson, 81-56

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's basketball team extended its home win streak to 12 games inside the Carrier Dome with an 81-56 win over Clemson on Thursday night. The Orange are 11-0 at home this season, just one of eight teams in NCAA Division I to reach such a feat. Tiana Mangakahia had a team-high 18 points while three other members of the Orange scored in double-figures. 'Cuse improves to 16-5 overall and 4-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference while Clemson moves to 11-10 and 1-7 in the league.
HOW IT WAS DECIDED
Syracuse opened the game with a 14-2 run and led by as many as 13 points in the first quarter. Clemson closed the gap to eight, with 2:18 to play, on a 3-pointer by Danielle Edwards. Alexis Carter made the first of two free throws to make it 23-16 with 28 seconds left. The Orange hand one last opportunity that Gabrielle Cooper capitalized on, hitting her third trey of the quarter for a 26-16 lead at the end of the frame.
By the second quarter media timeout, 'Cuse was holding on to a comfortable double-figure lead, 36-24, with under five minutes remaining in the first half. The Orange shot 47.1 percent from the field (8-for-17) in the quarter to lead 45-31 at the break. Cooper led the Orange with 11 points while Mangakahia added 10 points and a pair of assists.
'Cuse took its first 20-point lead of the game at 6:43 when Raven Fox made her second of two free throws. Miranda Drummond made it a 23-point lead at 5:58 with her second basket from behind the arc for a 54-31 lead. The Orange began the third stanza on a 16-2 run and led by as many as 34, 71-35, with under a minute to play. Clemson scored four-straight points to end the quarter in a 71-39 deficit.
Syracuse pulled ahead by 38 points in the final quarter with 2:53 to go. The Orange shot an impressive 57.1 percent through the final two frames and 44.4 percent from behind the arc. Every active member on the 'Cuse roster saw action in the 86-51 win.

The Orange shot an impressive 51.5 percent from the field, their highest field goal percentage of the season. Additionally 'Cuse was 38.5 percent from 3-point range (10-for-26) and held the Tigers to just one made 3-point basket.

"Winning home games is very important in this conference and we are 11-0 at home this season," said head coach Quentin Hillsman. "Anytime you can take care of business at home is very important. We had great balance and spread some minutes around. We shot the ball really well tonight and made 10 threes so I'm really happy with our effort and the way we played tonight." ?
