The No. 25 Syracuse women's cross country team tied its best conference meet finish in program history, while the No. 10 men's team earned a runner-up finish in a tight meet at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
Led by Shannon Malone's fifth-place finish in her season debut, the Orange women placed all-five scorers in the top-26 overall and finished third as a team.
The third-place finish ties the women's teams previous best at a conference championship, which the team began competing at the 1982 BIG EAST Championship. The Orange women have done so three previous times, most recently at the 2013 ACC Championships.
Shannon Malone crossed the line in 20:32.9 for fifth. Laura Dickinson finished in 20:45.0, which was good for 11th overall. She was the No. 2 freshman at the meet, bested by less than three seconds by Virginia's Abigail Green. Rachel Bonner (20:54.9) took 18th, Madeleine Davison (21:04.0) finished 23rd and Mary Malone (21:10.9) crossed the line in 26th.
Malone, Dickinson and Bonner all earned All-ACC honors for their performance, with Davison just missing All-ACC accolades by two spots.
The Orange women collected 83 team points. NC State successfully defended their conference title with 67 points. Notre Dame took second with 68.
Aidan Tooker was the Orange's top men's finisher, taking seventh overall in 23:55.1. He was followed closely by Joe Dragon, who finished in eighth overall (23:56.2). Kevin James (24:00.0) took 11th, Noah Affolder (24:02.8) placed 12th and Nathan Henderson finished 18th in 24:12.3.
All-five Syracuse scorers earned All-ACC accolades, but it wasn't enough to defeat Notre Dame, who finished the meet with 57 team points. 'Cuse came away with 61.
