SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The No. 39 Syracuse tennis team returns to conference action this weekend when the Orange play host to Clemson and No. 17 Wake Forest at Drumlins Country Club. First serve is set for 1 p.m. and 11 a.m. on Friday and Sunday, respectively, and both games can be streamed on ACC Network Extra or followed on Cuse.com.
The Orange finished their non-conference slate with a 6-1 victory over Florida Atlantic on Tuesday. A true team effort garnered the doubles point for Syracuse, while freshman Sofya Golubovskaya tallied the match-clinching point for the Orange with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over her Florida Atlantic opponent.
Syracuse is now 10-2 on the season, two games better than the Orange finished last season. The Orange are paced by junior Gabriela Knutson who ranks 11th in the most recent ITA/Oracle National Singles Rankings. Knutson is 9-1 on the season with a perfect record at home. Likewise, the Orange have yet to drop a home match, posting a 6-0 when playing in  Drumlins Country Club.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Clemson sits at 7-6 this year, having struggled in conference play with a 1-3 mark against ACC foes. The Tigers are riding a two-game win streak into Friday's contest, most recently defeating UNC Greensboro 5-2 on Saturday.
The Orange and the Tigers have met four times before in program history with Clemson edging Syracuse in three of the four meetings. The only Orange victory came a season ago, a 4-3 win for the Orange on the road.
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
Wake Forest comes into the weekend with a 12-4 record and just one conference win, a 5-2 victory over Virginia Tech. The Demon Deacons have won four contests in a row, including a pair of 7-0 sweeps over Elon and Winthrop.
This will be the 10th meeting between the Orange and the Demon Deacons in program history as Syracuse looks to tie the all-time series at five wins apiece. The Orange have come out on top in the last two matches, both hard-fought 4-3 victories in each of the last two years.
The Syracuse tennis team closes out the three-game homestand with a matchup against Louisville on March 25. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. and admission to all home matches at Drumlins Country Club is free.
