Orange Fall to Fighting Irish in Overtime

South Bend, Ind. – Syracuse (6-3) stormed back from a five-goal deficit in the second half to force overtime but Notre Dame's Andi Aldave netted the game-winner handing the Orange their second Atlantic Coast Conference loss of the season.
Nicole Levy led the team with five points tying a season-best four goals and Riley Donahue had her sixth-straight multi-point game.
HOW IT WAS DECIDED
The Fighting Irish took an early lead just 30 seconds into the game when Savannah Buchanan scored unassisted for a 1-0 Notre Dame lead. Molly Cobb made it a 2-0 Irish lead at in the 28th minute but Donahue cut the deficit in half tallying the Orange's first goal of the game at 25:17.
Notre Dame rattled off three unanswered goals to lead 5-2 with just over 15 minutes remaining in the first half. Levy danced around an Irish defender and found the back of the net at 10:28 bringing the score to 5-2.
With under a minute to play in the first stanza, ND capitalized on a free position shot by Aldave to take a 6-2 lead into halftime.
Syracuse was edged 18-10 in shots and won 1-of-9 draw controls in the first half while Asa Goldstock made eight saves.
The Orange scored first in the second half when Donahue tallied her second goal of the game but Notre Dame responded with Erin McBride scoring on back-to-back possessions to lead 8-3.
With 20 minutes to go, the Orange stormed back and scored seven goals including five in the final 11 minutes to force overtime.
Kelzi Van Atta won the first draw in the extra frame giving the Orange a huge opportunity. Sam Swart's shot was saved by Giacolone who gained possession for the Irish with 5:41 on the clock in overtime. Aldave tallied the game-winner for Notre Dame on a pass from Buchanan giving the Fighting Irish their first win over a ranked opponent this season.
OF NOTE
Nicole Levy tied a season-high four goals and added an assist to lead the Orange with five points.
Asa Goldstock made 10+ saves for the second-straight game and fourth time this season.
'Cuse is now 6-4 against the Irish in South Bend and 8-3 all-time.
