SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 34 Orange hit the road to face Atlantic Coast Conference rival Pittsburgh on March 30 before returning home to Drumlins to host No. 3 Georgia Tech on April 1. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. and 11 a.m. on Friday and Sunday respectively, with the Sunday match airing on ACC Network Extra.
Syracuse enters the weekend with a 12-3 overall record and a 4-3 mark in ACC action. Most recently, the Orange defeated No. 48 Louisville, 5-2, for their third top-50 victory of the season. The team has earned a top-50 ranking in five consecutive Oracle/ITA National Team Rankings, including a season-high 32 spot last week.
The Orange boast a 4-2 record on the road while excelling at home having dropped only one match inside the friendly confines of Drumlins Tennis Club, a narrow 4-3 loss to No. 16 Wake Forest. When winning the doubles point, Syracuse has found success as a team, posting a 10-2 record.
On Friday, the Orange travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers who hold a 6-8 record on the season. Pitt is still looking for its first conference win of the year, sitting at 0-7 in ACC play thus far. The Panthers ride a three-game skid into Friday's match, most recently falling to No. 21 Virginia, 5-2.
This will be the thirteenth meeting between the two squads with the Orange holding an 11-1 edge in the all-time series. The last loss for Syracuse came in 2008 when the team dropped a tight 4-3 match in Syracuse.
On Sunday, the Orange return to Drumlins to host the third-best team in the nation, Georgia Tech. Lke Syracuse, the Yellow Jackets have only recorded three losses this season with two of the three defeats coming against top-10 opponents. The only other loss for Georgia Tech came against the red-hot Miami Hurricanes.
The Orange are seeking their first victory against the Yellow Jackets, having lost to Georgia Tech in five consecutive years since joining the ACC in 2013. Just a year ago, Syracuse came close to its first victory over Tech, coming up just short, 4-3, in a hard-fought match.
Junior Gabriela Knutson ranks ninth in the country in the Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings, the highest-ranked player in Syracuse program history. The Czech Republic native is 12-1 on the season with a perfect 7-0 record in conference action.
Following the match against Georgia Tech, 'Cuse heads to the Sunshine State to take on Florida State on Friday, April 6. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
