SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 14 Orange are set to open the season at the Doc Hosea Invitational on Saturday, March 31, in Camden, N.J. Syracuse will face off against some of the top competition in the northeast as well as No. 15 Indiana and No. 20 Minnesota.
"The preparation of the women has been great," head coach Justin Moore said. "This group really likes to work and knows what it takes to be a successful crew."
Syracuse is one of three squads ranked in the top-20 that will compete at the Doc Hosea Invitational while Northeastern, Cornell and Pennsylvania are receiving votes in the March 28th CRCA/US Rowing Coaches Poll.
"The Doc Hosea Invite is a great opening race because there are 12 quality teams from the northeast," Moore added. "We made the emphasis on having teams from northern climates so everyone would be in a similar situation in terms of training accessibility. This year to have Cornell come back and add Indiana to the group just enhances the quality of the field. We are really looking forward to seeing those 11 other teams and measuring our speed against them."
In 2017, Syracuse placed first in the Varsity Eight Grand Final edging Penn by three seconds. The Orange claimed gold in the 2nd Varsity Eight Grand Final and the Varsity B4 Grand Final and was third in the Varsity Four Grand Final at the Doc Hosea Invite.
