HONORING LEGENDS
- Saturday will serve as a special anniversary celebration for the Orange, who will honor decade anniversaries for a pair of the NCAA Championship teams.
- The 1988 and 2008 Syracuse men's lacrosse teams will be celebrated for the 30th and 10th anniversaries of their historic feats.
- The 1988 team started the most dominant run in the history of the sport, winning its first of three-straight NCAA Championships.
- The 2008 team rebounded from missing the playoffs the year before and taking the team back to its rightful place as national champions.
THE HOPKINS SERIES
- The two biggest names in college lacrosse, combining for 21 NCAA Championships and 1,871 combined wins, making them the winningest programs ever on both fronts, will square off for the 57th time on Saturday in the Carrier Dome.
- Johns Hopkins leads the all-time series 29-26-1, but Syracuse has had the recent edge, winning seven of the last-10 matchups.
- Due to Carrier Dome scheduling conflicts in 2017 due to the NCAA women's basketball tournament, this is the first trip for JHU to the Dome since 2015, breaking the every-other year trip to 'Cuse for the first time since SU visited Homewood Field twice in a row in both 1998 and 1999.
- Last year's game was won by an overtime game-winning goal from Brendan Bomberry, marking the 17th time the series has been decided by one goal.
AGAINST THE B1G TEN
- Syracuse enters Saturday's game with a 122-59-2 record all-time against the six current members of the Big Ten.
- 'Cuse has faced JHU (26-29-1), Penn State (46-11-1, Rutgers (41-8), Maryland (6-11), and Ohio State (2-0). The Orange has never faced Michigan.
uSU will play a Big Ten opponent in back-to-back weeks, when Syracuse travels to Rutgers following Saturday's game.
DORDEVIC JOINS ELITE COMPANY
- Tucker Dordevic became the first Syracuse true freshman to score four goals in a game since Tewaaraton winner Mike Leveille accomplished the feat during his freshman season in 2005.
- Dordevic, who's now tied for the team lead with six goals, scored once in every quarter, including the game-winning goal with 12.6 seconds left.
- He earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week and a spot on the USILA Team of the week for his success.
CARDIAC 'CUSE 2.0
- After setting the program record for one-goal games last year at 11, the Orange have already picked up with it again in 2018.
- 13 of Syracuse's last-19 games have now been decided by one goal.
- 'Cuse has been widely successful in those matchups as well, winning 11 of the 13 one-goal games.
'CUSE CLOSING IN ON 900 WINS
- Syracuse enters the Saturday's game with 898 wins, looking to become the second program in NCAA DI lacrosse history to reach 900 wins.
- Johns Hopkins (973), Syracuse (898) and Maryland (813) are the only three programs with 800 or more wins. Navy is 10 from the plateau and Army is 15.
- There are six other programs in the 700 win club, Johns Hopkins (973), Maryland (813), Navy (790), Army (785), Hobart (764) and Cornell (748). All but the Terps appear on the Orange's 2018 schedule.
A WIN AGAINST HOPKINS WOULD...
- Be the program's 899th victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
- Improve SU's record to 53-17 since the start of the 2014 season
- Give John Desko his 240th career coaching win, fifth among active Division I coaches and 25th all-time at the NCAA Division I level.
DESKO CLIMBING THE RANKS
- With Syracuse's win against Army, head coach John Desko moved into sole possession of 25th all-time on the NCAA Divsion I coaching list. He passed legendary coaches Don Zimmerman (237, Johns Hopkins, 1984-90; UMBC 1994-2015) and Dick Edell (237; Army 1977-83, Maryland 1984-01) in the process.
-Desko now sits three wins from tying Sid Jamieson, who was tenured at Bucknell for 38 years, and four wins from tying F. Morris Touchstone - who the USILA Coach of the Year award is named after.
- Seven more wins this season will see a significant climb to 21st, passing four more people. Desko is 15 wins from cracking the top-20.
DOME-INATION
- Syracuse is 234-35 (.872) in the Carrier Dome since it began playing the majority of its home games there in 1981, including 2-1 this year.
- The Orange finished 9-0 at the Dome in 2015, the 16th time since 1981 (the lacrosse team's first year there) that SU was perfect at home.
- The Orange has won 31 of its last-35 home games.
KENNEDY DOESN'T MISS A BEAT
- Brett Kennedy has started two collegiate games in his career, stepping in for Tyson Bomberry.
- In that time, he has two goals and 10 ground balls.
- The redshirt-freshman has made the most of his opportunities by earning ACC Defensive Player of the Week for his play at Virginia.
