- The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, with Jake Marsh on play-by-play and Ryan Powell on color. Brian Higgins and Kyle Fetterly will carry the game on TK99/105 and JD Raucci, Jonathon Hoppe and Jack McMullen broadcasting the game for WAER.
FAN INFO
- The game is student appreciation night. As always, students get in FREE to all Syracuse men's lacrosse games. The first 100 students will also receive a complementary STX backpack.
- Tickets cost just $10 for adults and $5 for youth on Tuesday.
THE HOBART SERIES
- This will be the 104th meeting between the two programs, with Syracuse controlling a 75-26-2 record all-time against Hobart.
- The Orange have won four games in a row against the Statesmen, and are 17-2 in the series under head coach John Desko (since 1999).
- The two teams first met on April 29, 1916, in what was the first lacrosse game in Syracuse's program history. Hobart won the game 9-1.
- In last season's matchup, Syracuse won 17-11 behind a seven point (4-3) day from Nick Mariano and a five-assist performance from Sergio Salcido. Nate Solomon (4-0), Brendan Bomberry (3-0), Bradley Voigt (2-1) and Jamie Trimboli (2-0) were the top scorers among returners.Â
THE KRAUS SIMMONS TROPHY
- The Kraus-Simmons Trophy has been presented to the victor in this annual showdown every year since 1986. The trophy is named for legendary Orange head coach Roy Simmons Sr., who coached at SU from 1931-70 and won 253 career games, and Babe Kraus who compiled 208 victories at Hobart.
- Syracuse has won 29 of the 32 meetings since the trophy has been awarded, including 20 in a row from 1987 to 2005. The Statesmen gained possession of the trophy in 1986, 2006 and 2013. Otherwise it has resided in Syracuse.
- The Orange won back the trophy last season by beating the Statesmen, 17-11, at Boswell Field, which at the time exhausted the room on the trophy for plaques, so a new base layer was needed to accommodate the winner of Tuesday's game.
'CUSE WINS 900th GAME
- Syracuse became the second program in NCAA Divsion I lacrosse history to win 900 games on Saturday.
- Johns Hopkins (978), Syracuse (900) and Maryland (816) are the only three programs with 800 or more wins. Navy is 6 from the plateau and Army is 14.
- There are six other programs in the 700 win club, Johns Hopkins (975), Maryland (815), Navy (794), Army (786), Hobart (767) and Cornell (751). All but the Terps appear on the Orange's 2018 schedule.
CLINCHED
- Syracuse also clinched at least a share of the regular season ACC title and a spot in the conference tournament on Saturday.
- The win guarantees the Orange a spot in the ACC Tournament and with one conference game remaining, means that 'Cuse will at least tie for the best record in the ACC for the second-straight season.
- Since joining a conference for the first time in 2010, Syracuse has won eight titles (either regular season or conference tournament) in eight seasons. Winning the league outright with a win next Saturday would make it nine titles in nine seasons.
CONFERENCE KINGS
- After Saturday's win over Notre Dame, Syracuse has now extended its winning streak in regular season conference games to eight.
- 'Cuse is 3-0 in league play this season and the last time the Orange lost was against Notre Dame in the 2016 season.Â
- Since joining the ACC in 2014, Syracuse is 13-7 in regular season conference play.
AGAINST THE NEC
- Syracuse is 76-27-2 against the Northeast Conference, with all but two games coming against Hobart.
- In addition to the 75-26-2 record against the Statesmen, Syracuse is 1-1 vs. Bryant and has never faced Robert Morris, St. Joseph's, Sacred Heart, Wagner or Mount St. Mary's in program history.
A WIN AGAINST HOBART WOULD...
- Be the program's 901st victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
- Improve SU's record to 55-17 since the start of the 2014 season
- Give John Desko his 242nd career coaching win, fifth among active Division I coaches and move him into a tie for 24th all-time at the NCAA Division I level.
DOMINANT DOWNERS
- The Syracuse man-down unit entered Saturday's game against Notre Dame ranked 59th of 68th nationally, before coming away with an 8-for-8 performance in Saturday's win over Notre Dame.
- The 8-for-8 performance is the best in head coach John Desko's 20-year tenure at the helm of the program.
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS
- Syracuse finished the 2017 season 9-2 against the non-conference slate and opened this year 2-3.
- Since joining the ACC, the Orange is 36-9 versus non-conference opponents, including a 32-6 mark in regular-season, non-league contests.Â
