Women's Rowing Tested in Final Race Before ACCs

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Orange went head to head with No. 10 Princeton and No. 13 Wisconsin in the final race before the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Saturday morning at Carnegie Lake in Princeton, N.J.
"That is what you need to do as a program [racing nationally-ranked teams]," said Syracuse Head Coach Justin Moore. "It has been an emphasis in scheduling for our program. We made sure that we are seeing, or doing our best to see, at least one top-10 team every time we get in the water. Wisconsin and Princeton are both solidly in the NCAA field and that is the speed we need to go for and the speed our team needs to see."
The women's varsity eight finished third crossing the line in 6:23.1 behind Princeton (6:15.1) and Wisconsin (6:18.6). 'Cuse earned third-place finishes in both the second varsity eight and varsity four while finishing second in the second varsity four.
The Orange won the third varsity eight over Princeton with a time of 6:51.1 while the Tigers finished in 7:08.1.
"It was disappointing to finish third but the women raced well and we were competitive in every race," added Moore. "All of the races came down to the back end of the race. So although finishing third was disappointing we were pleased with the competitiveness of the team."
