
Second Varsity Eight Named ACC Crew of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y.— Syracuse University's Second Varsity Eight is this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
At last Saturday's Doc Hosea Invite on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J., 'Cuse's Second Varsity Eight posted a time of 6:42.20 to defeat No. 20 Minnesota (6:43.0), Dartmouth (6:45.4), No. 15 Indiana (6:47.4), Cornell (6:51.7) and Penn (6:52.7). Cornell and Penn are both receiving votes in the March 28th CRCA/US Rowing Coaches Poll.
The win allowed Syracuse to claim second place as a team at the Doc Hosea Invite with 102 points, just behind No. 15 Indiana who won with 108 points.
The Orange 2V8 posted a time of 6:52.9 in its heat defeating both Penn and Northeastern to qualify for the Grand Final and win the Orange Challenge Cup. The Orange Challenge Cup is one of women's rowing's oldest trophies, dating back to 1977.
The Syracuse Second Varsity Eight is composed of senior coxswain Sydney Rodriguez, stroke-seat Emily Andolfatto, seven-seat Josie Kiesel, six-seat Haley Jones, five-seat Alexis Dorner, four-seat Joey Preston, three-seat Sarah Konisheshky, two-seat Christine Tobias and bow Christine Habjan.
