
Six Earn All-Region Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse sophomores Emily Hawryschuk and Kerry Defliese have been named to the All-Northeast Region First Team, which was announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Friday, May 11. In addition, seniors Riley Donahue and Taylor Gait, junior Nicole Levy and sophomore Asa Goldstock were named to the All-Region Second Team.

Hawryschuk leads the Orange in goals (53) and points (61). She has scored multiple goals 15 times this season and has four or more goals in seven contests. Hawryschuk was voted to the All-ACC First Team and earned ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after recording 11 points in a win against No. 9 Loyola and Virginia Tech.

Defliese has started all 18 games on defense and has recorded career highs in ground balls (18), caused turnovers (15) and draw controls (41). She also was selected to the All-ACC First Team in a vote by the league's head coaches.

Donahue is Syracuse's leader in assists (20) and ranks third in points (45). She has scored multiple goals in nine games this season. Donahue recorded her 200th career point at Cornell, becoming just the ninth player in program history to reach the milestone. She will end her career ranked in the top 10 on Syracuse's career leader lists for points, goals and assists.

Gait has recorded career highs in points (30) and assists (13) this season. She scored two or more points 10 times in 2018. Gait posted her fifth career hat trick and a career-high five points to lead the Orange past Oregon. Levy ranks second on the team in points (48) and goals (38). She had three or more points in nine games and recorded a career-high seven at Virginia Tech.Â

Goldstock has started every game in goal for Syracuse this season. She has reached double figures in saves in four of her last six games and in seven of the last 11. Goldstock ranks 33rd in the nation in total saves with 155. In addition, she leads the team in ground balls (42).

Syracuse will play in the NCAA Tournament for the seventh consecutive year when it takes on Princeton in the first round at 4 p.m. today in Newton, Mass.
