SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange head football coach Dino Babers announced two updates to the Syracuse recruiting staff on Thursday, June 21.
Â
Babers has hired Landan Salem as the program's director of player personnel. Babers also named Dave Boller Syracuse's director of recruiting operations. Boller, who served as the Orange's director of player personnel last season, replaces Asil Mulbah, who left in May for a position in the Buffalo Bills scouting department.
Â
Together, Salem and Boller will lead the program's efforts to identify and attract the nation's top football prospects.
Â
A 2014 graduate of Illinois, Salem comes to Syracuse from Florida Atlantic, where he served as the director of player personnel and pro liaison in 2017. During his one season with the Owls, Florida Atlantic finished 11-3, won the Conference USA East Division title and defeated Akron in the Boca Raton Bowl.
   Â
Salem's previous college experience includes stops at NC State, Pittsburgh, Michigan State and Illinois.
   Â
Prior to a brief stint as the assistant director of player personnel at NC State, Salem served as Pittsburgh's director of video scouting and summer camps from 2015-16. He oversaw the player evaluation process for the Panthers and facilitated the recruiting schedule with the coaches. In 2014, Salem worked as a recruiting assistant at Michigan State. He spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons at Illinois as a player personnel and special teams assistant.
   Â
Salem gained NFL experience in the summer of 2013 as an operations intern with the Indianapolis Colts. He also interned with the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League in 2011.Â
Â
Boller has more than 30 years of experience in college and professional football. In 2018, his efforts helped Syracuse land its highest-rated recruiting class in more than a decade, according to 247Sports.com.
