Trio of Orange Set for Men's Rowing U23 World Championships

Poznan, Poland – Syracuse University will be well-represented at the 2018 U23 World Rowing Championships, which are held July 25-29 in Poznan, Poland. Men's rowing rising senior Nicholas Tavares headlines the trio of Orange student-athletes that will be representing their native countries. Tavares stroked the varsity eight that earned an eighth-place finish at the IRA Championship in June. He helped guide the Orange to a seventh-place finish at the Eastern Sprints, which secured 'Cuse as an automatic qualifier for IRAs for a third-straight year. He was selected as a member of Canada's men's eight crew.
Joining Tavares are incoming freshmen Jacopo Bertone (Italy) and Nicolay Yngsdal (Norway). Bertone will race with Italy's men's eight boat while Yngsdal is part of Norway's men's four crew. Jacopo Bertone (fourth from left) with his Italian men's eight + teammates.
In total, Syracuse will have seven student-athletes competing at the U23 World Rowing Championships. Joining the three men's rowing student-athletes are women's rowers Ashley Johnson (USA), Sydney Michalak (USA), Arianna Lee (USA) and Lucy Pearce (Australia).
