SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Assistant Softball Coach Miranda Kramer is the Orange's new interim head coach following the departure of Head Coach Mike Bosch. Bosch is leaving Syracuse to join the University of Florida staff after three seasons at the helm of the Orange program and six total seasons on the 'Cuse coaching staff.
"We appreciate Mike's contributions to our softball program and wish him well at the University of Florida," said Syracuse University Director of Athletics John Wildhack. "Miranda will ensure continuity in the program as we have a transition in leadership and continue to build upon our recent success."
"I am extremely humbled to be given the opportunity to lead this team and continue building on the success Coach Bosch has built," Kramer said. "Our next step forward is to continue to work together as one family, toward success, while getting better daily. I am excited to see what the future holds for Syracuse Softball."
Kramer, a pitching specialist who is in her third year on the Orange coaching staff, has played an integral role in the development of standout Alexa Romero. The 2017 All-ACC Freshman Team selection, Romero led the nation in strikeouts per seven innings as a sophomore and has recorded three career no-hitters. She threw a perfect game against Sacramento State in 2018, which was the first perfect game for a Syracuse pitcher since 2000. Last season the Syracuse pitching staff combined for a 2.35 ERA with 390 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .199 batting average.
A standout pitcher at Western Kentucky, Kramer was a top-26 finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year, Conference USA Newcomer of the Year, Conference USA MVP, two-time all-tournament team selection and three-time all-conference honoree. In her senior campaign she threw Western Kentucky's first-ever perfect game along with three-no hitters. She was drafted sixth overall in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league by the Pennsylvania Rebellion where she played two seasons before concluding her professional career with the Scrap Yard Dawgs.
A national search will begin immediately for Syracuse's new head coach.
