Orange Race Past Trinity at Henley Royal Regatta

Henley-on-Thames, Eng. -- The Orange advanced to the quarterfinal of the Temple Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta 2018. Syracuse beat Trinity College Dublin, a crew from Ireland, in the round of 32 in the men's 8+ student events division that is open to crews from universities, colleges and schools from around the world. The Orange jumped out to a lead early and built upon it throughout the race. Trinity won the 2018 University Championship after finishing its season 9-0. Syracuse's quarterfinal opponent in the head-to-head knock-out format will be determined later on Thursday.

Established in March 1839 in Henley-on-Thames, England, Henley takes place on The Straight Course, a 2,112-meter course on River Thames. The regatta lasts five days and races are head-to-head with one race per day for each boat.

Syracuse defeated Cornell by one length in its first race on Wednesday, July 4.

The Orange, which is one of nine Division I US teams competing at the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta, last competed at Henley in 2007.
