"The last time it happened...The Beatles were hot!" Coach Babers told the team as I walked into the locker room to congratulate them.
Well, I loved The Beatles, and I'm friends with Floyd Little, who ran all over FSU back in '66, but this past Saturday was something really special in the Dome.
Ready for goosebumps Orange Nation? Let's relive that magic:
When I visit the 'Cuse on the Quad celebration pre-game, people have stopped me to tell me how much they love the atmosphere. It feels like college football. I love that too. One group we had back last week was the BIG EAST Champion football squads from 1996-98. It was terrific having so many Syracuse greats, so many NFL veterans and All-Pro players back on campus.

WELCOME AND GOOD LUCK
In the off week between posts, I had the exciting opportunity to name not one, but two new head coaches! A huge Syracuse welcome to new softball Head Coach Shannon Doepking:

The other addition to our powerhouse group of head coaches is a guy we've been lucky to have here for a while, Brien Bell:
One of the architects of building Syracuse into a national powerhouse, @suxc will continue to lead one of the nation's premier programs as Syracuse's head coach of cross country/track and field.

We did say "see you later" to one of our very own as Eric Devendorf continued to follow his dream in coaching at Detroit Mercy. Eric's letter to Syracuse is moving and shows the family bond we have here:

ONWARD
Big weekend ahead in the Dome. We are welcoming back our 2008 Field Hockey team who are celebrating ten years. The squad was BIG EAST Champs and represented the Orange as the first NCAA Final Four team for the program and Coach Bradley.
We are also honoring our active military and veterans at Military Appreciation Day. Our University's relationship with the military has never been stronger and the SEFCU Cuse for the Troops program guarantees thousands of veterans and active military, with their families, will be at the game Saturday.
As if that is not enough, something I predicted when Joe Morris joined me on campus in 1978 will come to fruition Saturday. I was a junior, he a freshman, but when I watched him roll through teams in that blazing number 47, I knew greatness would be his legacy. Saturday we hang the 47 jersey in the rafters of the Dome and Joe will become part of the house he built! Please join us celebrating both Joe and the impactful team we have led by Coach Babers on Saturday.
CATCH THE ACTION IN PERSON OR BROADCAST
Please check in with the composite calendar to find out which games you want to watch or attend this weekend. We have field hockey, volleyball home opener and soccer both on ACCNE and live in person. Cuse.com/tickets is the first stop for all paid events, Olympic sports are free and open to the public.
