Pittsburgh, Pa. – The 12th-ranked Syracuse Orange women's basketball team faces Pittsburgh (9-8, 0-3 ACC) Thursday night at the Petersen Events Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra with Jeff Hathhorn and Amanda Silay on the call.
Syracuse (14-2) is 3-0 in the ACC and rides an eight game win streak into Thursday's league match. The Orange have won eight-consecutive games in conference play dating back to Feb. 11, 2018. 'Cuse is led by USBWA and Citizen Naismith National Player of the Week Tiana Mangakahia who had a triple-double in the Orange's 90-77 win over North Carolina on Sunday.
Mangakahia averages 17.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game. Against the Tar Heels, she had 34 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists becoming the first player in Syracuse history to log a points-rebounds-assists triple-double. Three Orange average double figures while five are scoring over 8.0 points per game. Syracuse is outscoring opponents by 17.4 points per game and is shooting 44.7 percent from the field.
Pitt is 9-8 in head coach Lance White's first year with the Panthers. Cassidy Walsh leads the team with 10.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Pitt averages 58.1 points per game and has held opponents to 37.5 percent from the field this season.
Thursday is the 65th meeting all-time between the two former BIG EAST rivals. Syracuse leads the series 41-19 and is 17-11 on the road at Pitt.
Following Thursday's game the Orange head to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.
