Current, Former Orange Compete for Team USA at Spring Premiere

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Syracuse freshmen Megan Carney and Sarah Cooper joined Orange All-Americans Becca Block '13, Liz Hogan '11, Kayla Treanor '16 and Michelle Tumolo '13 on Team USA for the 2019 Lacrosse Spring Premiere held over the weekend at Stanford. Carney and Cooper competed for the U.S. U19 squad, while Block, Hogan, Treanor and Tumolo were members of the 26-player U.S. national team.

Treanor and Tumolo led Team USA in its 14-8 win against England. Treanor led the way with five points on three goals and two assists, while Tumolo recorded three points. Hogan made seven saves to help the U.S. defeat Stanford, 19-14. The senior and U19 teams combined for the contest against the Cardinal. Block was a member of the Team USA defense in both victories.

The U19 team won both of its games, defeating Japan, 18-1, and England, 18-8. The U19 squad will announce an 18-player roster for the 2019 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) U19 Women's World Championship to be held in Peterborough, Ontario from Aug. 1-10.

The U.S. senior team will reconvene for a training weekend at US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. in June.

Carney and Cooper and their Orange teammates open the 2019 season on Friday, Feb. 8 against Connecticut at 3 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Admission is free of charge.
